5-Day Private Bhutan Tour

Five days. A deeper Bhutan—carefully paced through Thimphu, Punakha and Paro, with living culture, river landscapes and the pilgrimage to Tiger’s Nest.

The journey in one thought

Short by geography.
Not by feeling.

This private journey is for travellers with limited time who still want Bhutan to feel personal, not compressed. Each valley has a purpose: Thimphu introduces living arts and contemporary Bhutan; Punakha brings farmhouse hospitality, river landscapes and countryside walking; Paro closes with Tiger’s Nest and traditional wellness.

Five days cannot move like a two-week journey. Raven protects the moments that matter and removes the ones that do not. A secondary visit can disappear when a meal, conversation or unexpected encounter deserves more time.

01

Who it suits

Couples, solo travellers, friends and families seeking a compact first visit without a fixed group timetable.

02

Activity level

Mostly easy to moderate, with one longer Tiger’s Nest hike that is paced privately.

03

How it feels

Selective and locally connected, with proper meals and room to adjust each day.

The story of the journey

Day by day

A clear plan.
Room for real life.

This is the intended rhythm. Flight times, weather, river conditions and your energy determine the final shape of each day.

Day01

Paro → Thimphu

Arrive gently. Meet contemporary Bhutan.

Land in Paro and travel privately to Thimphu. According to arrival time, meet young artists, browse a market or simply walk through the capital before an early dinner. The first afternoon is deliberately light.

Day02

Thimphu → Punakha

Across Dochula to a farmhouse kitchen.

Day03

Punakha → Paro

Walk the fields. Choose your river experience.

Walk through farmland to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten and descend towards the river. Continue with private rafting when water, weather and confidence align; otherwise enjoy a quieter riverside walk and lunch. Return west without unnecessary stops.

Why Raven designed it this way

The art is deciding what not to include.

Thimphu carries the introduction, Punakha the deepest local interaction, and Paro the final pilgrimage. We do not add another valley simply because it can be reached on a map.

If a flight arrives late or a farmhouse meal runs long, a secondary activity can disappear without weakening the journey. That freedom is part of a private itinerary.

Where you may stay

Chosen for the day around it.

Raven does not publish a fixed hotel list because the right stay depends on location, character, availability, budget and how the property fits the route—not simply its star category.

  • Thimphu: a characterful base with sensible city access.
  • Punakha: a farmhouse or countryside stay when comfort and suitability align.
  • Paro: a restful property selected around the Tiger’s Nest day and departure time.

Exact properties, room categories, meal plans and upgrades are presented privately after suitability, rate and availability checks.

Questions before you travel

Useful answers.
No fine print.

The final proposal is personal, but these answers explain how the five-day framework works.

Will five days in Bhutan feel rushed?

Some days are naturally full, but the route uses only three valleys. We remove optional stops before compressing meals, walks or meaningful encounters.

How difficult is Tiger’s Nest?

The return hike is about 6.5 kilometres with roughly 520 metres of elevation gain and usually takes five to seven hours. Your private guide sets the pace.

Is rafting compulsory?

No. Rafting depends on water, weather, confidence and suitability. It can become a quiet riverside walk and lunch without weakening the day.

Can the accommodation be upgraded?

Yes. Raven presents suitable boutique, comfort and luxury options privately after checking location, room type, availability and rate.

Does Raven arrange the visa and SDF?

Raven coordinates visa processing and confirms the applicable Sustainable Development Fee in the proposal. Passport and payment timing are explained before booking.

Can this become six or seven days?

Yes. Extra time is best used to slow the route, add a monastery or festival experience, or give Punakha or Paro a second full day.
