Talung

Tucked into the folds of Haa Valley's western slopes, Talung is a village that time seems to have respectfully stepped around. Just a short drive from Haa town, beyond the hamlet of Jangkhakha, the road leads you to a place where life moves with the land—measured by seasons, sky, and the rhythms of tending earth and animals.

Here, traditional Bhutanese homes stand in quiet strength, many still built in an age-old way—with families living above and their cattle sheltered below. Smoke rises gently from wood-fired kitchens, and the scent of pine mingles with the earthiness of farm life.

Talung offers more than a glimpse; it provides understanding. You'll see how daily life weaves together self-reliance, ancestral knowledge, and harmony with nature. The fields are tilled by hand, vegetables are gathered with care, and the presence of animals is an integral part of the household's rhythm.

Wander slowly past prayer flags strung across rooftops, watch elders work the fields in quiet rhythm, and feel the dignity that lives in simplicity.

This is not a place curated for visitors—it's a living village where traditions are practised, not performed.

Talung's beauty isn't loud. It's in the warmth of a wave, the stillness of the hills, and the way the past continues to breathe through every stone and step.
