The Bumdra Camping Trek offers a rare blend of wilderness, comfort, and spiritual discovery. Starting from Sang Choekhor Buddhist College (2,800 meters), the trail steadily ascends through pine forests and meadows, reaching the Bumdra High Camp (3,800 meters)—a hidden world above the clouds.
Your journey is supported by horses carrying luggage and supplies, allowing you to hike light and enjoy the views. Upon arrival at camp, a personal chef prepares delicious Bhutanese and international meals—from hearty dinners to warming breakfasts—freshly cooked right at the campsite.
The camp offers spacious dome tents with cozy bedding, hot water bottles, and separate tents for dining, bathrooms, and showers. Evenings invite relaxed conversations by a bonfire under a sky scattered with stars.
Adventurous souls can hike a nearby ridge to 4,000 meters for panoramic Himalayan views before descending the next morning. Day two leads you down ancient trails, passing sacred temples and rhododendron forests, before approaching Tiger's Nest Monastery from above—a rare and serene perspective few travelers ever experience.
Best trekked in spring (April-May) or autumn (End of September–November), the Bumdra Trek is moderate in difficulty and ideal for travelers seeking meaningful adventure paired with thoughtful comforts.
At Bumdra, you're not just camping—you're part of Bhutan's sacred landscape, wrapped in warm hospitality and timeless views.
